Pakistan imposes regulatory duty on import of 400 items

Pakistan's Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has imposed regulatory duty (RD), ranging from 5 to 15 percent, on the import of 400 items from December 1, 2015.

According to a notification, articles of apparel and clothing accessories, of leather or of composition leather will attract 0 per cent RD. So will cotton yarn (other than sewing thread), containing 85 per cent or more by weight of cotton, not put up for retail sale and cotton yarn (other than sewing thread), containing less than 85 per cent by weight of cotton, not put up for retail sale.

There will be 10 per cent RD on cotton yarn (other than sewing thread) put up for retail sale, woven fabrics of cotton, containing 85 per cent or more by weight of cotton, weighing not more than 200 g/m, woven fabrics of cotton, containing 85 per cent or more by weight of cotton, weighing more than 200 g/m, woven fabrics of cotton, containing less than 85 per cent by weight of cotton, mixed mainly or solely, with man-made fibres, weighing not more than 200 g/m, woven fabrics of cotton, containing less than 85 per cent by weight of cotton, mixed mainly or solely with manmade fibres, weighing more than 200 g/m, other woven fabrics of cotton.

A 5 per cent RD has been imposed on men's or boys' overcoats, car- coats, capes, cloaks, anoraks (including ski-jackets), windcheaters, wind-jackets and similar articles, women's or girls' overcoats, car- coats, capes, cloaks, anoraks (including ski-jackets), windcheaters, wind-jackets and similar articles, men's or boys' suits, ensembles, jackets, blazers. trousers, bib and brace overalls, breeches and shorts (other than swimwear), women's or girls' suits, ensembles, jackets, blazers, dresses, skirts divided skirts, trousers, bib and brace overalls. breeches and shorts (other than swimwear), men's or boys' shirts , women's or girls' blouses, shirts and shirt- blouses, men's or boys' singlets and other vests, underpants, briefs, night-shirts, pyjamas, bathrobes, dressing gowns and similar articles, women's or girls' singlets and other vests, slips. petticoats, briefs. panties, night-dresses, pyjamas, negligees, bathrobes, dressing gowns and similar articles, babies' garments and clothing accessories.

A similar rate has also been imposed on garments made up of track suits, ski suits and swimwear, other garments, brassieres, girdles, corsets, braces, suspenders, garters and similar articles and parts thereof, whether or not knitted or crocheted, handkerchiefs, shawls, scarves, mufflers, mantillas, veils and the like, ties, bow ties and cravats, other made up clothing accessories, parts of garments or of clothing accessories, blankets and travelling rugs, bed linen, table linen, toilet linen and kitchen linen, curtains (including drapes) and interior blinds; curtain or bed valances, other furnishing articles and sacks and bags, of a kind used for the packing of goods.
