Q2FY17 revenue surges 14% at Lululemon Athletica

Net revenue at athletic apparel retailer Lululemon Athletica surged 14 per cent to $514.5 million in the three months ended July 31, 2015, as against $453.0 million in the second quarter of fiscal 2016. On a constant dollar basis, net sales rose 15 per cent, while comparable sales grew 4 per cent year on year or 5 per cent on a constant dollar basis.

Gross profit in the second quarter of fiscal 2017 rose 20 per cent over the fiscal ago quarter to $254.2 million, and as a percentage of net revenue, gross profit was 49.4 per cent, up from 46.8 per cent in the prior fiscal's second quarter.

In the quarter under review, income from operations drove up 11 per cent year over year to $74.0 million and as a percentage of net revenue, stood at 14.4 per cent, down from 14.7 per cent in the earlier fiscal's same quarter.

Diluted earnings per share for the reporting quarter were $0.39 vis-à-vis $0.34 in the comparable quarter of previous fiscal.

“Excluding tax and related interest adjustments, diluted earnings per share were $0.38 for the second quarter of fiscal 2017,” the retailer explained. (AR)
