"Much is being spoken about the postponement and cancellations of confirmed orders by the international buyers due to the Corona pandemic. This will have devastating impact on the Indian apparel industry and the livelihood of millions of garment workers. To understand the gravity of the situation, it is crucial to collate data on order cancellations or postponement," Rajesh Bheda, owner of Rajesh Bheda Consulting, told Fibre2Fashion.
The consulting firm has volunteered to capture and collate data on orders postponed or cancelled. It is requesting the members of apparel exporting community to share the information about their order status. "This will help in creating better understanding of the calamity and communicate to the stakeholders, including buyers, the real impact of such order cancellations or postponement," Bheda said.
Speaking about confidentiality of data shared with them, Bheda said, "The individual survey responses will be kept confidential. Only cumulative and summarised data will be shared so that the members of the industry, government and other stakeholders understand the gravity of the situation."
