From January to August 2015, Turkey exported apparel worth $9.81 billion, registering a drop of 11.16 per cent compared to exports of $11.04 billion during the corresponding period of last year, the data showed.
Category-wise, exports of knitted and crocheted clothing and accessories (HS chapter 61) earned $5.827 billion during the eight-month period, showing a decline of 13.7 per cent, as against exports of $6.752 billion during the same period last year.
Exports of non-knitted apparel and accessories (HS chapter 62) were valued at $3.983 billion, down 7.2 per cent over $4.291 billion exports made in the comparable period of 2014.
Meanwhile, exports of carpets, mats and tapestries also fell 11.6 per cent to $1.309 billion during the period under review from $1.482 billion in the same period of the previous year.
Likewise, exports of cotton, cotton yarn and cotton textiles, too decreased by 9.5 per cent year-on-year to $1.122 billion, whereas man-made filament exports dropped 12.6 per cent to $1.037 billion. (RKS)
