Footwear exports from Brazil to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) rose by 83 per cent year-to-date till October, the Brazilian Footwear Industry Association reported recently. Brazil shipped 1.4 million pairs to the UAE during the period from 792,000 during the same period last year. Revenue grossed by the footwear industry also increased from sales to the UAE.

The Gulf nation spent $10.6 million with Brazilian shoe purchases year-to-date through October from $7.8 million a year ago. But the increase in revenue was less substantial than in volume, reaching 35 per cent, a news agency reported.

This is because Brazil sold shoes to the UAE for smaller average prices this year than in 2018. The value of the pair traded a year ago was at $9.96 and was down to $7.35 year-to-date, down 26.2 per cent. The price stood below the overall average value of footwear exports from Brazil, which was at $8.56 this year.

Brazil’s overall footwear exports increased both in volume and value year-to-date through October. The country exported 93.3 million pairs, up 3.9 per cent year-on-year. Revenue from sales reached $798.8 million, higher by 0.6 per cent.
