WEAR Conference to take place May 24-26 in Boston

WEAR Conference, the longest-running smart fabrics and wearable technology conference event series will take place May 24-26, 2016 at the Seaport Boston Hotel in Boston.

“The new name reflects the depth and breadth of WEAR Conference content like smart textiles, wearable technology, material innovation and the business of wearables and consumer experience,” it said.

The event attracts a global delegation of established brands and startups from across the value chain like retail sports giants, medical device manufacturers, major fashion brands, consumer electronics companies, etc.

“We've only just begun to experience the explosive growth this industry will see,” said Barbara Fowler, conference director for Smithers Apex in a press release.

“We're proud to be the longest-running conference dedicated to the business of wearables and this is an incredibly exciting time for the industry,” she added.

“WEAR Conferences have seen businesses launched, matched products to investors, and helped shape the conversation around wearable tech,” Fowler informed.

She further added, “Our expert advisors represent top brands from across the supply chain and bring a collective expertise that you can't find elsewhere.”

The yet to be decided program has been curated by an advisory panel that includes Stacey Burr, general manager, Digital Sport at Adidas, Kate Drane, senior director at Indiegogo, Hap Klopp, chairman at Obscura Digital and Desney Tan, director medical devices at Microsoft.

According to the organisers, WEAR Conference attendees can expect to hear from a diverse group of designers, developers, manufacturers and end-users.

They will be able to hear about the integration of fashion and technology, strategies for innovation in the supply chain, augmented reality and VR, crowdfunding, wearables for health, medical and fitness, and much more. (AR)
