Zerobarracento, a responsible and contemporary fashion brand by Camilla Carrara has launched its Autumn Winter 2016/2017 coats capsule collection that is made in Italy with zero waste. Most of the selected materials used in the collections are from C.L.A.S.S. Its production is sponsored by German leader for sustainable fashion hessnatur.

C.L.A.S.S., a unique multi-platform Milan based hub specialising in integrating a new generation of eco values into fashion and home products, also collaborated as a consultant to find the best solutions for each step, keeping in mind three values: creativity, innovation and responsibility.

Each piece of the collection is designed and manufactured in Italy, the styles are classy and oversize, embodying Made in Italy traditional aesthetic and know how. AW2016/2017: a capsule collection of zero-waste coats, this means that patterns are developed to fully use the fabric. The project was undertaken on a foundation of intense research into the current sustainable innovations and luxury markets in Italy.

Carrara designed four exclusive fabrics in collaboration with Lanificio Zignone, a premium Italian weaver involved in smart and innovative production, using the Green Fibers yarn for her zero waste collection. The 100 per cent regenerated Ecolabel certified wool yarn, developed by Green Fibers, forms the basis of the value of this collection. These fabrics are completely traceable and certified.

Patterns used in the collection are developed to fully use the fabric. The project was undertaken after intense research into the current sustainable innovations and luxury markets in Italy.

Each coat in the collection is unique as the yarn is not overdyed. The sorting process creates the colour palette, ensuring that same surfaces are never creating during weaving.

The capsule collection was presented at the Berlin Fashion Week January 2016 through a booth and a catwalk at the Green Showroom offered by Messe Frankfurt. It won the ‘Recycling Design Preis’ organised by Marta Herford Museum and the Creative Conscience Award 2016.

The collection is created with support from Maglificio Massimo Bresci, Favini, Knopf-Budke, and Smart Materials for Okinawa. (KD)
