A project called MYPOD was launched in Yangon recently to improve the work environment in Myanmar’s garment sector. Funded by the Danish Market Development Partnerships fund, the three-year project to be implemented in 2018 aims to generate more jobs, raise sustainable value addition, improved productivity and social dialogue in the sector.

The project will be carried out in collaboration with the Danish Ethical Trading Initiative, the British Ethical Trading Initiative, Holch Povlsen family-owned Danish fashion company BESTSELLER, the Danish trade union 3F and Aalborg University in Denmark, according to media reports in Myanmar.

The domestic stakeholders in the project are SMART Myanmar, Yangon Technological University and local trade unions, Industrial Workers Federation of Myanmar (IWFM) and UNICEF’s Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) project. (DS)
