Brazil : Shoe fair Couromoda 2007 to welcome CCAB for first time
January 10, 2007

For the first time, 34th International Shoes, Sportsgoods and Leathergoods Fair ‘Couromoda 2007’ will welcome Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (CCAB) to set up a stall. Event will be held at Parque Anhembi in Sao Paulo between January 15 and 18.

Couromoda is Latin America’s biggest shoe fair and fourth largest in the world. Previous year’s fair was visited by 64,300 people.

Fashion accessories, footwear, leather goods, tennis shoes, sports goods and textiles will be showcased at the event. Only footwear merchants and storeowners would be able to take part.

To serve participating firms and outlets better, 11th edition of Brazilian Shoe Congress will be arranged during this fair as an added attraction.

Speaking to mediapersons, CCAB Secretary General Michel Alaby informed that Arabian importers, who are chief buyers of local footwear, attend the fair regularly.

Major importers of Brazilian shoes are Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt and Kuwait. Country exported footwear worth US $1.7 billion to over 100 nations in first 11 months 2006, with Arab imports bringing in $28.54 million in same period.
