Singapore : AsiaFutureTex to showcase nanotech's impact on textiles
    September 6, 2005

AsiaFutureTex is a collaborative effort between Cientifica Ltd. and the Textile and Fashion Federation of Singapore (TaFf) to demonstrate how nanotechnologies are already impacting the textile industry and how it will shape its future.

Whether harnessing the potential of the nanoscale to produce high value multifunctional fibres for traditional markets such as apparel, or the development of new materials and treatments to open up brand new markets, textile companies from Taiwan to Virginia are now at the forefront of the application of nanotechnologies

One of the worlds oldest industries is among the first to reap the benefits of nanotechnology, keeping it competeitive and breathing new life into traditional companies by:

    • Lowering costs
    • Improving margins and
    • Accessing to new markets

In order to fully examine the twin issues of competitiveness and nanotechnology in the textile industry, the Cientifica, the global nanotechnology experts, is organising a two-day conference to examine:

    • The key economic drivers for technological change across the textiles sector
    • The effect of nanotechnology on the competitiveness of the sector
    • The ways in which nanotechnologies are already being applied to the textile industry

In its 18th edition, the internationally renowned Singapore Fashion Week is expected to draw 60000 trade visitors who will see, for the first time, a showcase of exhibition and programmes that covers the entire value chain-from textile machinery, fibres and yarns to finished garments and high end fashions.
