New Yorkers feasted on an irresistible concoction of Indian music, dance and fashion for the second day at the Bryant Park during the India Incredible@60 celebrations being organized by Confederation of Indian Industry and Ministry of Tourism, Govt of India from 23-26 September 2007 in New York.

The replica of the magnificent Taj Mahal beamed as the backdrop for the day-long fiesta of classical, folk and Bollywood dances, fusion music and fashion shows.

The audio-visual delight was a treat for both eyes and ears and filled the soul. Appreciative Americans and nostalgic Indians – they all clapped, cheered and joined in the celebrations.

The atmosphere was enchanting. Curious onlookers stayed on to enjoy the show and the numbers kept swelling up. The effervescent hostess and the lively performances kept up the energy levels and the excitement up.

The unending array of folk dances – Yakshagana from Karnataka, Mayur from Uttar Pradesh, Bihu from Assam, Dashavtaar from Maharashtra, Ghoomar from Rajasthan intercepted only by renditions of popular Bollywood numbers held the audience in rapt attention.

When the inimitable choreographer Saroj Khan took the bow on behalf of her troupe, she didn't have to wait for the score. The audience had announced it. It was a ten on ten.

As the day progressed and the Sun got friendlier, Raghuvendra Rathore and Wendell Rodricks presented their contemporary collections at the Bryant Park. Theenigmatic ensembles were an amalgamation of skilled Indian craftsmanship and innovative western silhouettes. The audience completely 'loved it'.

The grand finale to the evening was presented to a packed audience by the celebrated Remo Fernandes in his unique musical style, which is a reflection of various styles of music and cultures – Goan, Sega, African, Latin and Portuguese.

Such is the fascination that visitors to the Bryant Park have started to inquire about travel to India. The American community seems to have begun its romance with India.
