Finland to tap investment opportunities in India

Mr Kamal Nath, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry urged the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) from Finland to tap the investment opportunities in India.
Addressing a Business Luncheon Session organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) with Dr Paavo Vayrynen, Minister for Foreign trade & development, Finland, Mr Nath said the SMEs required more hand-holding by the Finnish government to help them reach out to the Indian businesses. Mr Vayrynen is heading a business delegation to India.
Welcoming the Finnish delegation, Mr Nath said the core element of India-Finland partnership is a comprehensive economic engagement between the two countries.
"Though we are working towards an Indo-EU economic partnership, bilateral relationships are by no means less important, Mr Nath said." The technology and innovation of Finland and the huge workforce of India made an unbeatable combination, throwing up new business opportunities, he said.
The minister said India requires about $475-billion investment in infrastructure, offering great opportunities in public transport, ports, utilities etc, for Finland to tap. "Finnish companies are known for taking long-term views of their businesses," he said and added that India has much to learn from Finnish corporate philosophy and practice.
In his keynote address, Mr Vayrynen, welcomed more investment from India and urged Indian companies to take advantage of Finland's favourable business environment. He said Finland is the gateway to stronger EU-India ties.
