The Department is headed by a Secretary who is assisted by one Special Secretary, two Additional Secretaries, Six Joint Secretary and two Joint Secretary level officers and a number of other senior officers.
Beside formulating and implementing the foreign trade policy, the Department is also entrusted with responsibilities relating to multilateral and bilateral commercial relations, state trading, export promotion measures and development and regulation of certain export oriented industries and commodities.
