
History The Society of Dyers and Colourists (SDC) is the only international professional society specialising in colour in all its manifestations. It was founded in 1884 in Bradford, UK, and was granted a Royal Charter of Incorporation in 1963. The SDC is a registered charity and its aims and objectives are 'to advance the science of colour' in the broadest sense.
Vision Membership and regional affairs To encourage global development and support for all members and regional activities.
Education and qualifications To support education and training in colour science and technology at all levels; to encourage individuals to improve their professional status through education and training and seek recognition of it through the Society's scheme of qualifications; and to engender an increasing awareness of the nature of colour and methods of coloration among the community at large.
Publications To communicate and publish scientific papers, information and text books related to colour in all its forms.
Technical To provide excellence in all aspects of colour fastness testing, colour measurement and industry related activities relevant to the Society.
