Future Group, one of the top retail groups in India, has planned to invest in omni-channel retailing, by implementing the omni-commerce suite by hybris, a company owned by SAP.

Omni-channel retailing, the next step in multi-channel retailing, is a novel approach to reach out to the customers through all the available shopping channels like, mobile internet devices, computers, television, radio, direct mail, catalog, and so on. Future Group has decided to invest about Rs. 1 billion, for 18 months in omni-channel retailing.

With omni-channel retail operations, customers can view the inventory records of the available items online, can place orders for desired products and collect the orders from the nearest stores. Also, if a particular product is unavailable, it will be delivered home when the stock arrives. It also provides an endless option to select from over 250,000 items available across Future Group stores or the store websites.

hybris omni-commerce suite helps customers to get optimal shopping experience on the web, (check this) mobile devices or any other digital platforms. Working two ways, it helps the retailer get a view of the customer’s choice and the customer can also view the retailer’s brands. It helps customers to research online and make purchase decisions before they go to the store for shopping.

Addressing a press conference, joint managing director of Future Retail, Rakesh Biyani, said, “This kind of omni-channel retailing will change the way we interact and serve the customer. Via omni-channel retailing, retailers are meeting new customer demands by deploying specialized supply chain strategy software.”

“We have our own logistics chain and we also have a third-party logistics arrangement to ensure that the product is delivered to the customer on time,” he added. In terms of revenue generation, the omni-retailing channel would enhance revenue by 6-9 per cent over the next two years, he said.

Future Group has a significant presence in Indian retail and fashion sectors, and operates fashion outlets like Brand Factory, Central, etc. The company has about 140,000 stock-keeping units across India.

hybris, owned by SAP, headquartered in Switzerland, is a software company that delivers enterprise software, multi-channel commerce and e-commerce solutions. (GK)
