Applied DNA VP bags 50 Asian Americans in Business Award

Applied DNA, a provider of DNA-based supply chain security, anti-counterfeiting and anti-theft technology, and product genotyping for therapeutics, has announced that MeiLin Wan, vice president of textiles, has bagged the 2017 Outstanding 50 Asian Americans in Business Award at the organisation’s 16th annual dinner gala in New York City on June 20, 2017.

The Outstanding 50 Asian Americans in Business Award Gala includes a wide array of Asian ethnicities that represent a microcosm of elite Asian American business owners, professionals and corporate executives across the United States. The award committee identifies and selects outstanding leaders who have built a successful business or who have distinguished themselves in their community.

Recognised for her contributions to secure supply chain solutions and services to assure quality and enable responsible sourcing practices for textile customers globally, Wan’s work fulfils the promise of, “keeping textiles real and safe.” She has more than 25 years of experience in the biotechnology, consumer products, and personal care industries, specialising in marketing, sales, strategic, and international management.

Today, Wan is actively working to initiate new platforms such as CertainT to safeguard supply chains against product recalls, liability, while maintaining profitability and market differentiation. From 2014 to present, Wan has led Applied DNA’s efforts to tag, test, and trace over 160 million pounds of US grown cotton, resulting in the launch of products sold under the PimaCott brand in over 1,700 stores throughout the US and Canada.

In addition, she leads the team for creating and driving commercial strategies to develop innovative textile applications in synthetics, recycled cellulosic, rayon, wool, cashmere, silk and many other fibre, yarn, and fabric products. Focusing on excellence in marketing, sales, and customer service, Wan is the key business manager for multinational partners and clients including Himatsingka, Loftex, Louis Dreyfus Company, Martin Guitar, Nissha Printing Company, Solvay, and other Fortune 500 companies.
