| Team USA Medal Stand collection for Olympic launched | | November 12, 2009 (USA) |  |
 Nike, in partnership with the U.S. Olympic Committee (USOC), unveiled the Team USA Medal Stand apparel and footwear collection that U.S Olympic and Paralympic athletes will wear at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games. The head-to-toe look is not only high in performance attributes, but it is part of Nike’s Considered Design ethos, which combines sustainability with the newest innovations for sport.
The complete athlete look includes the Nike ACG Considered Design Waterproof Down Jacket, ACG Considered Design Waterproof Pant, Nike Air Blazer ACG boot, headwear and other accessories featuring a bold USA identity.
“Our designers combined performance benefits and sustainability while infusing a modern approach with classic old-school styles,” said Nike Creative Director of Innovation / Olympics, Scott Williams. “The result is the best of all worlds. We’ve created our warmest, ultra-lightweight, waterproof, and breathable Olympic apparel ever, all through a sustainable lens.”
The goal of Nike Considered Design is to create performance innovation products that minimize environmental impact by reducing waste throughout the design and development process, as well as using environmentally preferred materials and eliminating toxics.
“The Team USA Medal Stand look demonstrates Nike’s ability to blend performance and innovation with new sustainable features,” said Lisa Baird, USOC Chief Marketing Officer. “We couldn’t be more pleased with the products Nike has presented for our athletes and appreciate their leadership and dedication to the sustainability of their products.”
Below is a breakdown of products available to U.S. Olympic and Paralympic athletes for the medal ceremony at the 2010 Vancouver Games:
• ACG Considered Design Waterproof Down Jacket is one of the first of its kind using 100% recycled polyester fabric and 800-fill down insulation, making it not only warm and waterproof, but also incredibly lightweight and breathable. The jacket also includes a fade print that is unique to each jacket, creating a one-of-a-kind look for each athlete.
• ACG Considered Design Waterproof Pant uses 100% recycled polyester fabrication combining fit and comfort with the technology and function of a high performance pant. The lightweight, breathable, waterproof fabric is not only comfortable but provides high-level technical performance that elite athletes need.
• Nike Air Blazer ACG footwear fuses an original 1970’s street style with a high performance outdoor trail shoe all through the lens of Nike Considered Design, resulting in a shoe that bridges the gap between performance and sustainability. The environmentally preferred rubber and Nike Regrind outsole, directional lugs for uphill and downhill control, full-grain leather upper, and Nike Air cushioning, help create a look and feel that is uniquely Nike. | | | | Nike | |
