Gap opens store on Chinese etailer JD.com's marketplace

Iconic US based apparel retailer, Gap has opened a flagship store on Chinese online retailer and NASDAQ listed, JD.com’s marketplace.
The JD.com platform gives the new Gap flagship store access to the massive base of active and loyal Chinese shoppers of the etailer, alongside other global clothing brands.
With the Gap flagship store up and running, customers will be able to purchase some 600 different Gap items for men, women and children.
JD.Com customers of the Gap store will also have access to exclusive discounts, in addition to the secure, seamless and satisfying experience they are used to on the JD.com portal.
Gap Inc. is a leading global retailer offering clothing, accessories, and personal care products under the Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy, Piperlime, Athleta, and Intermix brands.
Gap products are available for purchase in more than 90 countries worldwide through about 3,200 company-operated stores, almost 400 franchise stores and e-commerce sites.
While, JD.com is a leading online direct sales company and operates 7 fulfillment centers and a total of 118 warehouses with an aggregate gross floor area of approximately 2.3 million sq mtr in 39 cities.
It has 2,045 delivery stations and 1,045 pickup stations in 1,855 counties and districts across China, staffed by its own employees and offers same-day delivery in 130 counties and districts.
JD.com CEO Haoyu Shen says, "Bringing an iconic American brand like Gap to our site further strengthens our selection of apparel, which is among our fastest growing and most popular categories."
