Giorgio Armani to design for Ricky Martin

Giorgio Armani is pleased to announce his collaboration with Ricky Martin for the artist's 2011 Musica + Alma + Sexo world tour, which kicks off at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on March 25th 2011. Giorgio Armani has custom-designed Emporio Armani clothing for Ricky Martin, his band members, dancers and back-up singers.
Giorgio Armani says, “Ricky personifies today's modern man and is an extraordinary talent. Our long-standing friendship has now spanned well over a decade. I am thrilled to be working with him again on this next chapter of his legendary career. Last summer, Ricky attended my Emporio Armani men's fashion show in Milan. We became enthusiastic over the prospect of collaborating again.”
The clothing designed for the production comprises a number of different styles to suit the show's four different theatrical themes. Black leather jackets are incorporated into the 1980s punk-inspired opening, while Armani's signature suiting influences the look of the 1920s jazz era/cabaret section.
The show next evolves to incorporate a Mediterranean influence, distinguished by navy blue-and-white striped shirts, contrasted with more formal attire at a European masquerade ball. The performance concludes with an Afro-Brazilian theme, which features a strong presence of white clothing and beachwear.
Ricky Martin says, “I have always loved Giorgio Armani's designs and have worn countless outfits of his throughout my career, both on and off stage. The looks he has created for my new tour are uniquely creative and I am very honored and excited to be working with him again. He will help bring Musica + Alma + Sexo alive.”
Giorgio Armani previously outfitted Ricky for the Vuelve tour in 1998 and his groundbreaking Livin' La Vida Loca tour in 1999. Additionally, Ricky was wearing Giorgio Armani for his spectacular performance at the 1999 Grammy Awards. Ricky Martin is an international musical icon, who has sold over 60 million albums worldwide. The Musica + Alma + Sexo world tour coincides with the release of Ricky's ninth solo studio album, of the same title, which was released on February 1st 2011. His recently published memoirs, the celebrated autobiography, Me, is an international bestseller.
