Nominations and special honors for the 2006 LA Fashion Awards were announced last week at a wine and cocktail reception on the rooftop of The Standard Hotel in downtown LA hosted by FedEx.
Los Angeles magazine style director Laurie Pike read the names to a VIP audience of nominees, honorees, nominating committee members, 2005 winners and press while they sipped margaritas courtesy of Sauza Hornitos tequila and wines from Wente Vineyards.
Those selected for recognition this year include a diverse group of rising stars and industry leaders that embody and shape the energy, creativity, and vision that make Los Angeles a global fashion center. A nominating committee of 33 editors, stylists, designers and retailers selected those to be recognized at the second annual LA Fashion Awards event on October 20, 2006 at the Orpheum Theatre.
Winners in the categories of Fashion Innovation, Retail, and Marketing will be announced at the Awards gala, an event designed to reflect the glamour and diversity that defines Los Angeles style with a program including red carpet arrivals, wine-tasting and cocktail reception in the Orpheum grand lobby, the awards program with fashion presentation on the runway inside the theatre auditorium, and a VIP after-party with Los Angeles magazine.
Each winner will receive a handcrafted glass art piece specially designed by renowned artist Caleb Siemon, whose work has been exhibited in museums and galleries around the world.
