The addition of an extra hall this year ensures the 2014 Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles – August Edition will be the largest ever held. In total an expected 1,400-plus exhibitors from nearly 30 countries and regions will showcase their latest products in 13 halls covering 150,400 sqm. Running from 27 to 29 August, the fair is held at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre.

Country and region pavilions featuring this year include Belgium, India, Italy, Korea, Pakistan, Taiwan and Turkey, while a new pavilion from Morocco makes its debut appearance. Following on from the success of previous editions, the Italy Pavilion returns again and will showcase the very best of Italian home textile suppliers to buyers. Chinese regional pavilions at this edition are from Binzhou, Gaoyang, Haining, Huzhou, Nantong, Pujiang, Shaoxing, Tongxiang and Yuhang.

European Hall to feature the finest Europe has to offer
As in previous editions, the European Hall is the destination for buyers looking for premium products. As well as the Italy Pavilion, pavilions from Belgium and Turkey will also feature again in this hall. The organiser of the Belgium Pavilion, Fedustria, explained their reason for returning for a third consecutive year. “We realise China and the Far East are growing markets with customers who like European craftsmanship and tradition,” explained Mark Vervaeke, Division Manager. “With our eight exhibitors we really cover a broad spectrum of medium to very high-end plain and jacquard velvets, and printed and jacquard woven flat-weaves for the upholstery, decorative and curtain sectors.”

Besides these pavilions, the collection of editors in the European Hall will be another drawcard for buyers. Many of the industry’s leading editors are already confirmed to take part including Designers Guild from the UK, JAB Anstoetz from Germany, and French supplier THEVENON. LaCanTouch will also feature, and are representing the CASADECO, Flordelis, Jean Paul Gaultier and Sonia Rykiel brands. And Unichina will showcase a number of European brands including Armonia (Italy), Edinburgh Weavers (UK) and Gonzalez Llado (Spain).

Also to be found in the European Hall is the Intertextile Design Boutique, where studios will display their original designs and artwork for fabric and product development. This zone is growing in popularity, with 40 design studios from 13 countries participating in 2013. A design resource lounge can also be found there, and together with the Intertextile International Lifestyle Trend Forum, designed by the NellyRodi Agency, these areas as well as other design related programmes at the fair will provide the latest trend information to the industry in Asia.
