In order to enhance skills of the artisans and to develop marketing and branding, Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company (PGJDC) has organized two jewelry designing courses.
One was arranged at the Karachi Tools, Dies and Moulds Centre (KTDMC) in Korangi and another a six-weeks training programme on jewellery designing for women in Rawalpindi.
Both the courses will help to create technology awareness among designers as lack of training and international quality standards are hindrances in the growth of gems and jewelry sector in Pakistan.
The course for women is a comprehensive one which will incorporate different aspects of jewelry designing on metals, gemstones, shapes, shading, textures, painting, cabochon, setting, pave, motif, symbolism, fashion and weeding and especially for casual wear.
At the Korangi classes, skills of the craftsmen will be upgraded. Sumaira Malik, a qualified jewellery designer and gemologist will impart knowledge about the latest developments and techniques adopted worldwide.
This effort of PGJDC will help to establish Pakistan as a hub for quality gemstone and jewellery.
