Vaughn Outdoor provides new CZiP gloves and mittens

Skiers, snowboarders and winter athletes are all too familiar with the inconvenience of taking gloves off at inopportune times. Whether it's on a lift, in the middle of a ski slope or backcountry, having to take off gloves is not always easy or safe to do. Vaughn Outdoor, a new Utah-based company, provides an end to this dilemma with the new CZiP gloves and mittens.
The innovative CZiP design features a zipper at the top of the hand portion of a glove or mitten and allows the wearer to remove the material covering the hand and fingers without completely removing the glove or mitten. With hands free, the wearer can perform any function, while still having the convenience of the open portion secured around the wrist.
Eric Vaughn, an avid snowboarder and director of research & development for Vaughn Outdoor, coined the idea for CZiP after experiencing the inconvenience of removing his gloves to let his hands cool down every time he got on the ski lift. “This was a waste of time, inconvenient and I risked dropping a glove from the lift every time I removed one. On one trip up the lift, I looked down at my glove and thought how this problem could be solved if there was an opening on the glove that would allow access to my hands without taking the glove all the way off.”
After several self-made prototypes, Vaughn's The Vaughn Outdoor CZiP, available to retailers for the 2006-2007 season, has already received prominent industry recognition. At the ISPO Show, Vaughn will officially receive the Riri Sportswear Accessories Award of the ISPO BrandNew competition, the world's largest young entrepreneur contest in the sports equipment industry.
