About 5000 export enterprises from Guangdong province will face a tough time as new 'green wall' of EU: REACH (Registration, Evaluation and Authorization of Chemicals) law will come in to effect from June 1, 2007.
As most of the export enterprises here are unaware of REACH law, the government of Dongwan city is putting up a team that would help export companies understand REACH law and take necessary steps to comply with it.
REACH law encourages elimination of hazardous chemicals affecting environment but point for concern to all will be increased cost to manufacturing on account of compliance, for industries like textile, clothing and shoes.
Thus, compliance of REACH law has become a major issue for Guangdong Province as companies mainly export to EU member states.
