The government has sanctioned the amount to revamp the organisation. LIDKAR which had recently posted a profit after a long hiatus had submitted a proposal for Rs 250 million.

Revival of LIDKAR would benefit around 100,000 families who depended on leather for their livelihood.

LIKDAR has also urged the government to reduce VAT from 14 percent to 5 percent, which has been done in the case of the Khadi Gram Udyog sector in Karnataka.
