Stahl's leather preview for Spring/Summer 2013

Stahl presents its colour, fashion and leather technology preview for Spring and Summer 2013, which includes an exciting new section on Italian fashion trends. This is the inspired idea of Matteo Baldi, a leather stylist from Santa Croce who has recently joined the fashion team. Combining the original four themes of the colour fashion forecast with the forward-looking Italian fashion scene, Matteo has used colours and textures to bring sunshine into the heart of the leather industry.

Matteo's colours range from sunny pastels to strong, bright shades. His effects move tastefully from smooth soft leather to heavier grades with strong colour and deeply embossed prints. He takes the reader on a voyage of discovery along sunny shores throughout the day.

To finish off, he shows how colours can be mixed and matched in many different ways to encourage designers to try out their newest and latest ideas.

At “07.00 am In the Morning” the atmosphere is calm and reflective. The leather is created for softness and comfort. Lightweight leather is all about softness and naturalness. Heavier grades are still light and natural but embossing and print are stronger.

Moving on to the middle of the day, to “12.00 am O'Clock”, leather is influenced by hobbies, passions, work and home. Some inspiration is drawn from chic sportswear. Natural leathers are still important but the somewhat heavier grades are able to carry deeper colours, deeper embossing and deeper prints.

As “05.00 Time Tea” arrives, leather relaxes into a fusion of new and old. It is soft and natural. Effects are stronger and eyecatching. East and west come together to create new and interesting effects that reflect both sources of design.

Finally, evening draws on and leather prepares for “09.00 pm Party Time”. Moonlight and its shadowy shades compete with the bright lights of the night's places of entertainment. Suddenly leather effects become so wildly creative reflecting the background of the party. Bright metallic effects vie with softer pastel pearls.

However, all is not finished. It may be “time for carriages to take you home” but here is place in the book where Matteo takes over. It is the time to look at the Italian Fashion Style and see how it has impacted on the pleasures of the leather scene throughout the day.
