As Russia and Saudi Arabia are losing ,markets for Turkish footwear producers, exporters are considering market entry in to Japan.
Footwear Industries Association of Turkey President, Mr Kiziltas said, “If something is not done to stem the rot, Turkish shoe industry will diminish by 20 percent in 2006. Vat cut also is in favor of importers because they can buy finished shoes at 8 percent Vat."
He adds, "We do not demand complete stoppage of shoe imports, but we just want implementation of WTO standards and regulations in practice.”
