Setting up of warehouse & AI flight to SA mooted

An increase of 75 percent recorded in bilateral trade has prompted Indian businesses to establish a permanent warehouse in South Africa with Air India set to resume flights mid-year.
Indian business houses plan to set up a permanent warehouse for their goods in Durban with support of High Commission, said High Commissioner Satyabrata Pal.
He was speaking at the launcheon during the 3rd India trade exhibition by Indian small businesses in Cape Town.
The exhibition was intended to enhance co-operation between Indian Small and Medium Enterprises (SMMEs) and South African small entrepreneurs.
Air India plans to resume flights to South Africa by mid-2006 along with a private Indian airline also scheduled to fly to South Africa, Pal said.
Air India first started flights to South Africa after the post-apartheid democratic Government took over in 1994.
Flights between South Africa, India and Brazil are also being planned to increase economic and trade ties among the India-Brazil-South Africa (IBSA) countries, Pal said.
