Shipments: Shipments of manufactured durable goods in November, down three of the last four months, decreased $0.1 billion or 0.1 percent to $213.1 billion, revised from the previously published slight decrease. This followed a 0.5 percent October increase. Electrical equipment, appliances, and components, down three of the last four months, had the largest decrease, $0.2 billion or 1.4 percent to $10.8 billion.
Shipments of manufactured nondurable goods, up six of the last seven months, increased $6.4 billion or 3.0 percent to $216.3 billion. This was also at the highest level since the series was first stated on a NAICS basis in 1992 and followed a 2.0 percent October increase.
This increase was due to petroleum and coal products, which increased $6.9 billion or 15.0 percent to $53.4 billion. Petroleum and coal products were also at the highest level since the series was first stated on a NAICS basis in 1992.
Unfilled Orders: Unfilled orders for manufactured durable goods in November, up thirty of the last thirty-one months, increased $7.5 billion or 1.0 percent to $786.8 billion, unchanged from the previously published increase. This was also at the highest level since the series was first stated on a NAICSbasis in 1992 and followed a 1.0 percent October increase.
Transportation equipment, up twenty-two consecutive months, had the largest increase, $6.6 billion or 1.5 percent to $458.3 billion.
Inventories: Inventories of manufactured durable goods in November, up four of the last five months, increased $2.4 billion or 0.7 percent to $317.2 billion, revised from the previously published 0.8 percent increase. This was also at the highest level since the series was first stated on a NAICS basis in 1992 and followed a 0.4 percent October increase.
Transportation equipment, up ten of the last eleven months, had the largest increase, $1.3 billion or 1.7 percent to $79.7 billion. Inventories of manufactured nondurable goods, up two of the last three months, increased $1.6 billion or 0.8 percent to $207.2 billion. This followed a 0.2 percent October decrease. Petroleum and coal products led the increase, up $0.9 billion or 2.5 percent to $36.6 billion.
By stage of fabrication, November materials and supplies increased 0.4 percent in durable goods and decreased 0.5 percent in nondurable goods. Work in process increased 1.3 percent in durable goods and 2.1 percent in nondurable goods. Finished goods increased 0.4 percent in durable goods and 1.2 percent in nondurable goods.
