AAU appends new degree course for aspirants in leather field

In order to contribute a consequential share in the economy of Ethiopia and its leather industry, on January 2, Addis Ababa University (AAU) and the Leather and Leather Products Technology Institute (LLPTI), inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to incorporate a leather course in the degree program.

Andreas Eshete, President of AAU and Dr Belay Woldeyes, Director of LLPTI, were present during the MoU signing ceremony. Both of them expressed their hope that this endeavor would definitely help in the enhancement of country's leather industry.

The leather industry can now employ qualified task force to meet the requirement in the sector and come up at par with to face the competition in the international market.

Ethiopia being the leading livestock producer in Africa, and the 10th largest in the world, has a major comparative advantage in the raw materials needed for the leather sector.

This joint effort of AAU and LLPTI, would help the country to take a giant leap in the international arena.
