Finance Minister, Shri P. Chidambaram met his Japanese counterpart Mr. Fukushiro Nukaga. Both the leaders noted with satisfaction that relations between India and Japan have steadily progressed in the last few years.
The visits of the Indian Prime Minister to Japan in 2006 and the visit of the Japanese Prime Minister to India in 2007 have further strengthened the India-Japan Global Partnership.
The two sides expressed the hope that this partnership would further deepen. Both sides called for increasing bilateral collaboration in infrastructure sector, including the Dedicated Freight Corridor Project and the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor Project. Increasing collaboration in the Financial sector was also discussed, during the meeting.
