During November last year, Vietnamese footwear industry shipped around 214 thousand pairs of footwear to the China and generated foreign currency of nearly US $2.3 million. The figure represented a year–on–year growth of 54.6 and 51.7 percent, in terms of volume and value.
According to an official source of Ministry of Industry and Trade, in the period from January to November previous year, exports saw a mixed trend in China, as in some parts strong growth was observed where as in few, there was sharp slump.
However, export of plastic sports shoes enjoyed the strongest growth at $2.6 million, rising 720 percent in comparison with same period of 2006. Synthetic leather sports shoes stood as the second highest earner, fetching revenue of $2.24 million, showing a year–on-year boost of nearly 310 percent.
Tennis and basketball footwear accounted for a small share in total exports turnover, although these products are rather competitive in the Chinese market.
It is noteworthy that though in November 2006 exports of knit–capped sports shoes to China reaped large revenue, not a single order was registered for the same, from this marker in the corrosponding period of last year.
