Shri Kamal Nath to speak at World Economic Forum

Shri Kamal Nath, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, is scheduled to address the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos.

The WEF meeting during 22-26 January, 2008 will be attended by a high-powered delegation that includes government representatives from both the central and state governments and key business leaders from different sectors.

Shri P. Chidambaram, Finance Minister; Shri Praful Patel, Minister for Civil Aviation and Shri Vilasrao Deshmukh, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, will also participate in the WEF meeting.

Shri Kamal Nath will be addressing in several important sessions at the WEF, including the sessions entitled “The Asian Century – Fact or Fiction?” on 22nd January; “India's International Agenda” on 23rd January; “New Global Challenges” on the 24th of January; and “Threats to the Global Trading System” and “WTO Informal Ministerial Gathering” on 26th January.

The meetings will also be attended by the Prime Minister of Hungary, Mr. Ferenc Gyurcsany; Mr. Akira Amari, Minister of Economy, Trade & Industry of Japan; Mr. Celso Amorim, Minister of Foreign Relations of Brazil; Mr. Pascal Lamy, Director General of World Trade Organisation; Mr. Doris Leuthard, Federal Counsellor of Economic Affairs of the Swiss Confederation; Mr. Peter Mandelson, Trade Commissioner, European Commission, Brussels; Ms. Mari Pangestu, Minister of Trade of Indonesia; and Ms. Susan Schwab, US Trade Representative.
