Recently, the Republic of Korea formally opened their embassy in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan. A pine tree was planted by the representatives of the two countries to commemorate the occasion.

Dignitaries like Mr Rashid Meredov, the Vice Premier and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and Mr Jo Jeng Pe, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade along with other delegates from Korea attended the opening ceremony.

On the occasion of inauguration, Mr Jo Jeng Pe said that this will prove to be a stepping stone towards the long term healthy trade relation between the two nations. Since Turkmenistan is a country with abundant natural resources, and South Korea has a great potential for investment, a mutual partnership would bring benefits to both countries.

While attending a press meet, the Korean First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade said that South Korea is ready to share advanced technologies with Turkmenistan and the country is looking forward to lend its hand of cooperation in key sectors like textiles, infrastructure and information technology among many.
