Dong Nai exports scales new heights

Dong Nai, located in the southeastern part of country, is an industrial province. Heavy foreign investments poured in here, in the fields of shipping and manufacturing since the nation adopted healthy investments policies.

With each passing year, Dong Nai Province, is modernizing itself, by developing its infrastructure as region's commerce thrive on it.

According to available statistics, export turnover for the region in 2007 registered over US $500 million, a year-on-year increase of 21.4 percent.

Local business contributed over $30 million to the figure, demonstrating an increase of 5.5 percent whereas foreign enterprises earned $470 million, rendering a growth of 21.6 percent, accounting for 94 percent of total export turnover. Last year, the province represented about 10 percent of the country's total export value.

In 2007, main exporting products for Dong Nai were footwear and handicrafts among others.

The highest export grosser for the region this year, remained footwear, machinery and textiles and most of these are foreign invested companies.

Vietnam relies heavily on imports of raw material, is quite true to the fact that in 2007, the province's import turnover reached $692 million, garnering a boost of 51 percent year-on-year.
