Applauding the Ministry of MSME move, Mr Ramesh Datla, Chairman, CII SME Forum mentioned that significantly issues such as Equity participation, Foreign Direct Investment, WTO committments, Technology upgradation & modernisation, and competing in the global markets have underlined the need for the review of the policies that were formulated in the Pre – liberalisation (1991) era, and the policy of Reservation for manufacture of SSI products was one such policy, that called for immediate attention.
In the present context, the issue of reservation/dereservation of product is examined on a continual basis by an Advisory Committee on Reservation constituted under the I(D&R) Act 1951, which is presently headed by the Secretary (MSME) as Chairman. Other Members of the Committee are Secretary (Commerce), Secretary (IP&P), Advisor (VSI) Planning Commission with Additional Secretary & DC(MSME) as Member Secretary.
