Coir Board to open Authorised Sales Outlets

Coir Board under the Ministry of MS & ME, Government of India has evolved a novel Scheme for promotion and marketing of Coir products through Authorized Retail Outlets (AROs).
This Scheme is one among the domestic market development initiatives of Coir Board. Under this Scheme quality Coir products will be made available for sale through the Authorized Retail Outlets.
The public can purchase coir mats and other products as well as place orders with these Authorized Retail Outlets. Initially few outlets will be selected in Kerala for promotion and marketing of Coir products. The Scheme will be extended across the country in a phased manner.
The programme will be formally inaugurated by Shri A C Jose, Ex. MP and Chairman, Coir Board at 4.00 pm on 11th February, 2008 at Kuttappal Agencies, Varapathkuzhiyil Buildings, Opp. Federal Bank, Kolencherry.
Smt. Annamma Yohanan, President, Poothrika Grama panchayath will preside over the function. S/s C P Joy, District Panchayth Member, C .I .Moncy, Block Panchayath Member, Rajan Chitteth, Vice President, Poothrika Grama Panchayath, Adv. Mathew P Paul, Standing Committee Chairman, A G Kuriachan, Panahcyath Member etc. will also attend the inaugural function.
Apart from promoting export market of Coir and Coir products from India the Coir Board is giving emphasis for the development of domestic market for coir products.
Shri A C Jose, Chairman, Coir Board informed that the coir products intended for sale through the Authorized Retail Outlets will be procured from small scale producers and distributed to the selected outlets by Coir Board.
This initiative of Coir Board is expected to boost the domestic market for coir products in a big way and thereby enabling the small scale producers to get a steady market for their products.
This in turn would provide more remunerative and full time employment to the working class in the coir sector, Shri Jose added.
