Snowfall hits Wenzhou footwear industry hard

The constant snowfall in Southern China has affected all the industries of the region. Power cuts, poor cargo facilities and unavailability of workers has a negative outcome on production as well as on sale of garments, shoes and other products made in Wenzhou city of Zhejiang Province.
According to sources sale of Wenzhou made footwear, in Hubei and Henan province has gone down by 50 and 40 percent respectively.
It is estimated that during this Chinese New Year, footwear production of Wenzhou went down to almost 30 percent. One of the reasons can be cited as, because of huge snow fall, a large number of workers could not return to their factories on time, which, in turn, had an ill-effect on the normal working.
