According to recently released reports from Ministry of Industry and Trade, Vietnamese footwear enterprises saw a steep fall in the export prices of many products during December 2007.
The export price for tennis and basketball shoes was quoted at US $8.5 per pair saw a fall of 5.4 percent from November and down 26.44 percent compared to similar month 2006.
The knit–cap sports shoes stood at $7.95 each pair, demonstrated a year–on–year decrease of 18.9 and 5.4 percent in comparison with previous month. For the whole fiscal year 2007, the export price of these two products dropped at 12.4 and 19.5 percent respectively compared to previous year.
In contrast, the export price of other footwear products enjoyed strong hike in December 2007, including sandal at $8 a pair, rose by 12.34 percent, plastic shoes for $8.7 each pair, boost of 9.6 percent and tanned leather sports shoes $9.18, up 7 percent over same period 2006.
