The Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries will take place from May 28 to 30 in Praia, Cape Verde.
The meeting is jointly organized by Trade and Investment Promotion Institute of Macau (IPIM), the Cape Verdean Agency for Investment and the Chinese Council for Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT).
During this fourth meeting between business people from China and the Portuguese-speaking nations, small and medium-sized companies, both from mainland China and Macau and from Portuguese–speaking countries will be the focus of the meeting. Additionally, delegates will also discuss issues of multilateral cooperation and will aim to work out strategies for strengthening bilateral trade.
The recent statistics shows that bilateral trade between China and Portuguese speaking countries amounted to US $9.4 billion in the first two months of 2008, recording a rise of 88.6 percent compared to the same period last year.
Moreover, the 12th International China Trade and Investment Fair is also due to be held in September at Xiamen. It is hoped that through this fair and such other close interactions, trade between the two regions can be enhanced significantly.
