Colombia Government recently announced a scheme of temporary license for some Chinese shoes products. This system is scheduled for four months ending August 31, 2008.

According to the statistics, in 2007, Ningbo city exported 6834 shipments of shoe products to this South American nation, up 0.82 percent. The trade, especially escalated, towards the latter months of the year, it footwear enterprises had started facing problems in the US and EU markets.

Weak US and EU markets in 2008 have become a grave concern for exporters. Consequently, Columbia like several other developing countries, is offering strong consumption potential, attracting many Chinese enterprises.

Particularly, the footwear enterprises of Ningbo city are targeting South America and other such countries.

Thus, experts have urged the Ningbo industry to thoroughly study and understand the new temporary license system of Colombia. They said that interested companies should apply for licenses in an organized manner, so as to avoid any problems or conflicts.

It is also advisable for the shoes enterprises to negotiate with the Colombian clients and come up with a mutually beneficial agreement.
