In May the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices increased to 108.00 from 107.24 in April.
In May 2008, the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices increased by 0.7 per cent over the previous month. The Clothing and Footwear Index registered an increase of 1.5 per cent, due to seasonal price rises in garments.
A decrease of 0.1 per cent was recorded in the Miscellaneous Goods and Services Index. In May, the twelve-month moving average rate of inflation stood at 2.3 per cent, whereas the annual rate stood at 4.1 per cent.
