Retailers in Dubai have been teeming up in traditional markets despite abundant space in shopping complexes and malls.
A survey conducted to give evidence to this conjecture shows that nearly 55 percent of the 604 outlets taken under examination are located in traditional markets and other commercial or industrial places.
Only 17 percent are situated in malls and shopping complexes, while the remaining 28 percent are in residential buildings. Luxury goods like jewelry are more pronounced in malls, exclusive outlets and shopping complexes while a majority of other goods like clothing, footwear, beauty and health products, furniture and the likes are found in commercial places.
The study also revealed that retail shops were positioned in a particular area or mall considering the factor of customer visibility and class. Shops need to be identifiable especially when the competition is fierce and consumers have a plethora of options.
