With Singapore's experience and expertise in urban planning and development, Singapore's players can contribute by customising and offering total solutions for the building of comprehensive and sustainable initiatives related to public infrastructure.

Business Process Outsourcing:
BPO is one key service sector identified for development in the province. In December 2006, Hangzhou, the capital city of Zhejiang, was identified by the central government as one of the 11 key cities for BPO.

With a good track record in BPO services, Singapore companies are well placed to offer these solutions for the growing services industry in Zhejiang, including IT outsourcing, where e-solutions could be packaged for banks and financial institutions. At the same time, Singapore's higher education players can provide quality vocational training to enhance the BPO-readiness of the local workers.

Environmental Services:
In line with China's 11th Five Year Plan, efforts have been devoted to strengthen the environmental services sector in many parts of China, including Zhejiang. Singapore has an excellent track record in meeting the growing water and used water treatment needs for both domestic and industrial use, as well as managing waste and energy.

The process of tackling these challenges has led to the rise of innovative Singapore companies whose solutions and wide-ranging expertise in water resource, waste and energy management are now being exported globally to support a fast-expanding international client base.

These companies would be able to collaborate with Zhejiang in providing solutions such as water treatment, industrial water and wastewater treatment, sea water desalination, sludge treatment, management and treatment of municipal and industrial waste, and more.

Other areas of cooperation:
Other areas of cooperation that the SZETC will continue to look into include vocational and technical education, ICT and tourism, as well as the internationalisation of Zhejiang enterprises looking to list in Singapore or to work with Singapore enterprises to explore third country collaboration. Currently, there are six Zhejiang enterprises[2] listed on the Singapore Exchange (SGX).

Singapore companies with business operations or projects in Zhejiang include Ascendas Group, Breadtalk, CapitaLand, Hyflux, IMC Group, Maya Group, Prima Taste, Tee Yih Jia Food Manufacturing, YCH Logistics and more.
