Shri Yasuo Hayashi, Chairman and CEO and Shri Masashi Kono, Director General, Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) present at Inaugural Ceremony of JETRO Business Support Center in Mumbai at The Ballroom, ITC Maratha, Sahar, Andheri East, Mumbai.

It gives me great pleasure to be with you on the occasion of inauguration of Japan External Trade Organization's Business Support Centre (JETRO) in Mumbai.

I complement authorities of JETRO for their initiative to start this business support centre in Mumbai – India's financial capital and fastly emerging as Financial Hub of South-East Asia. I hope this centre will strengthen the relation between our two countries and will get mutual benefit in expanding trade and commerce.

I appreciate that JETRO works with developing countries to develop export products, nurture industries and also improve the environment of investment. I am glad to know that JETRO has kept its pace at the changing face of World business dynamics and has been actively responsible for the increased business facilitations between Japan and rest of the World.

I fully support the views of Chairman of JETRO Mr. Yasuo Hayashi on achieving self-sustainable economic growth in developing countries through expanded trade, which is essential for the harmonious and stable growth of the over-all world economy. I am sure, both India and Japan can play an active role in achieving the stability in World economy.

As all of you are aware that Maharashtra being the growth engine of India's industrial and economic development, the State has been attracting highest foreign direct investment. Maharashtra is witnessing a new industrial revolution and investors are now exploring small centres like Aurangabad, Latur, Solapur, Kolhapur, Chandrapur apart from Pune, Nasik and Mumbai.

Last two/three years, we have concentrated on the transformation of Mumbai into world-class Metro and I am happy to inform you that this city has been passing through an exciting change. There are lots of activities in enhancing infrastructures and transportation facilities. Work on first phase of Metro-Rail has already been commenced. We have got sanction for second phase.
