Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision recently conducted a spot-inspection of products by several international brands.
Bureau found that items from some top brands fail to meet Chinese quality standards. The brands that came under this spot-check included renowned PUMA brand, H&M and GUESS, among others.
Reportedly, qualified rate of the T-shirts was just 81.4 percent, and that of leisure clothes and shirts was only 76 percent and 98 percent, respectively.
Insiders say that the major problems were the unacceptable PH value and fibre content as well as color fastness issues.
Sources said that this problem had occurred maybe because international and national standards for imported products differed.
The alleged companies have recalled their objectionable products from the markets. Besides, the importers of the international famous brands also expressed that they would ensure that the manufacturers are careful and take measures to conform to Chinese national standards.
