The bilateral trade between Cambodia and Vietnam has been growing strength to strength and is sure to cross last year's mark of US $1.2 billion. According to the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia, in the first six months of 2008, the two way trade between these countries reached nearly $900 million.
After looking at the good trade both Cambodia and Vietnam have enjoyed from January to June, the Government of both countries are hopeful of reaching the desired target of $1.5 billion by the end of 2008.
Cambodia had to spend around $700 million to import various products including textile and garments from the trading partner. On the other hand, exported commodities worth approximately $140 million from various neighboring nations including Cambodia.
Going by the way things are shaping up, officials of both nations have planned to take their trade to almost $2.3 billion by 2010 and around $6.5 billion by 2015.
