According to Government statistics, the total export value of Macau in July this year reached 1.61 billion patacas, registering a fall of 13.7 percent than same month last year.
Of this, the re-export value via Macau reached 694 million patacas, up 11.2 percent, whereas the self-export marked 1.02 billion patacas, down 23.7 percent.
Textile and clothing are one of the key pillars of economy for this country. Statistics show that this textile industry provided about 66 percent of export earnings in 2007.
However, in 2008, the impact of international trade crunch can be seen clearly on textile manufacturing and trading.
In the first seven months of this year, the total export value of Macau was 10.14 billion patacas, marking a year-on-year drop of 11.2 percent. Of this, self-export and re-export value via Macau decreased by 13.9 and 48.1 percent, respectively.
