It has been noted that companies and industries all round the world are struggling to cope with the international trade turmoil since the beginning of 2008. This has especially been true for the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs).
However, Spring Singapore recently revealed that SMEs in the country are still enjoying global demand for their products and services. Even traditional sectors like textile production are reporting healthy sales.
Mr Png Cheong Boon, the new head of Spring Singapore, said that though exports to the US has weakened, surging demand from some other countries made up for it. Nowadays, big orders are coming in from Asia, Europe and as far away as Latin America and Russia.
"The complaint from SMEs now is that they can't find enough manpower to fulfil those orders," Mr Boon added by saying.
Experts say that Singapore industries will find many opportunities but they will have to raise their level and remain competitive in international markets.
