On the eve of the deadline of the anti-dumping measures regarding leather footwear importations from China and Vietnam, that will enter into effect on the 6th October, the European Commissioner Peter Mandelson expressed his backing of the revision of the deadline itself.
This decision, officially the exclusive responsibility of the Board of Commissioners, scheduled to meet up this week, has been warmly supported for quite a time by ANCI, the National Association of Italian Footwear Manufacturers, along with CEC, the European Confederation of the Footwear Industry.
“We warmly thank Commissioner Mandelson for having himself proposed a revision of the deadline on duties on Chinese and Vietnamese shoes”, commented the President of ANCI, Vito Artioli, “We give the same thanks to the Italian Government for the support received, and in particular Undersecretary Urso for the excellent political work undertaken”.
“Obviously”, concluded President Artioli, “we are confident that Commissioner Mandelson's proposal will be correctly carried out and confirmed by the Board of Commissioners”.
